Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Finance Assistant to support the daily financial operations of the company. The ideal candidate will assist the Finance Manager in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and preparing reports. Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process supplier invoices, match purchase orders, and ensure timely payments to vendors. Raise sales invoices and track customer payments.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- Expense Management: Process employee expense claims, verifying receipts and ensuring adherence to company policies.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Payroll Assistance: Support the Finance Manager with payroll processing, ensuring that employee salaries and benefits are correctly administered.
- Data Entry: Maintain accurate financial records by inputting data into accounting software and updating spreadsheets.
- General Support: Provide administrative support to the finance team, including filing, answering queries, and assisting with audits.
- Compliance: Ensure all financial activities comply with relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including VAT and tax regulations.
Key Requirements
Qualifications
- AAT Level 2 (or working towards) or equivalent qualification in accounting or finance.
- Proficiency in using accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
Experience
- Previous experience in a similar finance or bookkeeping role is preferred but not essential for the right candidate.
Skills
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Excellent numerical skills and an ability to interpret financial data.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
- Knowledge of VAT, payroll processing, and other finance-related legislation.
